Top 5 Parks in Brooklyn

As a sprawling borough with tons of hidden streets and secrets, Brooklyn will spring upon you many huge, green-filled oases amongst the tall buildings and loud traffic. See here the Top 5 Parks you should go to according to what you're looking for - from relaxation to dog-parks and playgrounds, they have it all!

Here is what we recommend:

Brooklyn Bridge Park - The one for meeting up with friends
If you had stopped by the Brooklyn Bridge waterfront a few years ago and saw it today, you wouldn't believe the transformation. This park has amped up in accordance with the huge swell of population heading to Brooklyn; barbecue structures, playgrounds, plenty of grass for picnics and even courts for all sorts of sports like football, basketball, volleyball, and more. Oh and not to forget the vistas of lower Manhattan, Statue of Liberty and the bridges over the East River to make the day even more surreal.

Sunset Park - The one for the best sunset (duh)
As dusk approaches, this park certainly lives up to its name. Hopefully you'll get to enjoy the NYC sunset after a full day of exploring this cool little neighbourhood on the river: Bustling shops and restaurants represent nationalities from all over the world and while this little corner of Brooklyn has not yet fallen victim to such gentrification as its neighbours, will it really remain a forgotten enclave much longer with such incredible views available?

Hillside Park - The one to bring the dog

Let the dog run free in this park stretching over a blissful two acres in Brooklyn Heights. The woodchip-covered ground is perfect for rambunctious play and plenty of trees abound for racing around. Multiple entrances, water fountains for both dogs and humans alike, and park benches and tables lend a friendly neighbourhood feel to this park where your dog can run himself and his friends ragged!

Prospect Park - The one with everything
When you're just looking for a lovely, large green space that has everything: Picnics, cycling, running (3k loop around the perimeter), and one of our favourite aspects, the Imagination Playground to bring the kids. Check out the recently renovated Prospect Park Lake and if you have a dog, take advantage of certain off-leash hours. You can't go wrong with hanging out for a day in this park with friends for a barbecued picnic, just pure bliss on a sunny day.

Pier 6 Playground - The one to bring the kids
While in Brooklyn Bridge Park or strolling the markets in DUMBO, make sure to take time to visit the Pier 6 Playground for a few hours that are guaranteed to tire the kids out while the grown-ups can relax at the wayside. Clean bathrooms, a food court and not to mention the unrivalled views of lower Manhattan make this a perfect destination for families on a day out.
