Top 5 Scenic Viewpoints in Granada

Granada is an incredibly beautiful city viewed from both within and without. Wander cobblestone streets amongst towering churches, climb the winding walkways of the AlbaicĂn or tour the Alhambra Palace on the mountain beside the city - all give different viewpoints that are worthwhile to see on your visit to Granada.

Here is what we recommend:

Tower of La Iglesia de San Nicolás
Sitting above the most famous mirador in Granada, you can climb the tower of La Iglesia de San Nicolás for a small fee, giving you the perfect spot to get that iconic photo with the expanse of the Alhambra Palace in front of you, with the snowy Sierra Nevada mountains as a backdrop. The whole city and Albaicín is spread out below you and at sunset, you can't capture a more beautiful scene. Take a break from the climb and enjoy the entertaining flamenco guitarists and singers. [Update: There's a lot of construction work going on right now on this church and so enjoy the views from the plaza in front, they're just a few metres less impressive!]

Mirador de Los Carvajales
If you're not up for the long, strenuous climb up to Plaza San Nicolás, there is a much more easily accessed square with incredible views of the Alhambra with barely any climbing involved. This is a great spot to relax and enjoy the views. You can get great photographs of the Alhambra without competing for wall space like in the busier plazas. Enjoy the friendly ambiance of groups gathering here to play and sing flamenco for fun or a couple coins.

El Huerto de Juan Ranas
While certainly a tourist destination, this bar/restaurant is the perfect getaway from the crowds of the usual miradores with all the benefits of the view, set just below the Mirador San Nicolás.
Chill out on comfy couches, soak up the sun and enjoy some cocktails while you're at it. Definitely not a budget option for those looking to save money but for a couple drinks at sunset, it's worth it to relax and enjoy the views.

Alhambra & Generalife
No doubt you'll be entranced by the gardens, buildings and works of art in the Alhambra Palace and Generalife gardens but don't forget to extend the glance outward, back down at the city of Granada. The views from up here are fantastic and capture an aerial viewpoint of the city and surrounding areas. The Sierra Nevada mountains looming behind the palace seem surreal covered in snow even with the sun shining hotly down.

Restaurante Panoramic 360
Believe it or not, there is actually a 360° revolving restaurant in Granada, the first one in Spain! Set a bit more on the outside of the city centre, it allows diners to witness views over the entire city, the Sierra Nevada mountains and of course the Alhambra. The food is highly rated and the desserts are delicious. Come for a meal or just a drink and sit back while the vistas slowly change around you!
